Headstones
The headstone for John Thomas Presgraves buried at Chestnut Grove Cemetery. He was the son of Richard H. and Nancy Presgraves. He was born on November 18, 1822 and died on November 8, 1901. He married Sarah A. E. Presgraves, who is also buried in Chestnut Grove.
Richard H. Presgraves was born on May 10, 1763 and died on April 14, 1837. He was married to Nancy Presgraves and had five children: Ann, Amerlia, Luninda, Lydia and John.
Nancy Presgraves was married to Richard H. Presgraves. She was born on December 15, 1781 in Loudoun, Virginia. She died on September 7, 1858 also in Loudoun at age 78.
Sarah A. E. Presgraves was the wife of John Thomas Presgraves. She was born on February 1, 1834 and died on March 21, 1890. At age 20, in 1854, she married John Thomas Presgraves. She lived in the Broad Run District of Loudoun County.
Born on December 28, 1873, Osceola Presgraves was the daughter of John Thomas and Sarah A. E. Presgraves. She died at age 11 on October 31, 1884.
Edith Lillian was the daughter of John Thomas and Sarah A. E. Presgraves. She was born on July 29, 1877 and died on March 28, 1885 at age 8.
James Thomas was the son of John Thomas and Sarah A. E. Presgraves. He died at age four, having been born on Septmember 29, 1859 and dying on September 17, 1863.
The infant child of John Thomas and Sarah Presgraves was born on April 18, 1875 and presumably died the same day. There are no known records for the child, most likely due to the fact that birth records weren't recorded until a child was a year old, as many did not make it through the first year.
Harry Davis Presgrave is youngest child of John Thomas and Sarah A. E. Presgraves. He was born on March 8, 1880 and died in 1963 at age 83. He was born in Loudoun, Virginia and lived in the Broad Run District and Dranesville during his lifetime. He had five children.
Genevieve Gray Cross Presgrave was born in 1876 and died on October 24, 1962 in Herndon, VA. She married Harry Davis Presgrave on April 9, 1902 and is buried with her husband. The couple had five children: Ralph, Roger, Harry, Cecelia and Lawrence. During her lifetime, Genevieve lived in Centreville, as well as the Broad Run District once she married Harry.

John Thomas Presgraves, his parents, wife and several of his children, as well as three of his sisters are buried together at Chestnut Grove Cemetery. Four of the children have smaller headstones than the adults they are buried with. These children, James, Edith, Osceola, and Infant, did not live to adulthood, which explains the differences in headstone size. Harry, the youngest son of John and Sarah, has a different headstone, with his wife, than the others. They were buried at Chestnut Grove once the rest of the family had been moved, and also at a later date. Additionally, one of Harry and Genevieve's sons is buried beside them. He is commemorated with a plague headstone, with the simple display of his name and birth and death dates. The family lived in the Broad Run District of Loudoun County, in the eastern part of the county.
