The Gooding Family Cemetery
Description
An account of the resource
The Gooding Family Cemetery is located just off of Little River Turnpike in Annandale, right across the street from Northern Virginia Community College. The Gooding family lived and farmed this area for over a hundred years. This was the site of a famous skirmish between Col. John Mosby and his Rangers, they ambushed a Cavalry of 63 Union Troops during the Civil War. It was also the site of the famous Gooding Tavern where this skirmish took place. The cemetery is in okay shape today since there have been volunteers that have helped clean it up. During the summer lots of weeds and plants grow up all over the place making it difficult to maintain.
