Census Records 1820-1880

This shows a range of census documents taken during the life of Samuel Birch.  The first one is from 1820, where there are 7 people living on his property, slaves included.  The next one is from 1830, at the point Samuel has remarried and there 13 people living on his property.  Next is the 1850 census, there are no more slaves mentioned, but all of his children and his wife made up 12 people.  These also show that he was a farmer and that many of his sons become farmers as well.  The last one on this page is odd because it shows the Samuel Birch family living with someone named J.R. Minor.  It also shows that there is another son, Jacob, but I find this hard to believe seeing that there is no other mention of Jacob and he would have been born when his mother was 53.
