Puzzling Aspects of the Cemetery

The Hach Headstones

Although the majority of the names found inside of the iron fence in the Brown's Memorial Cemetery belong to members of the Brown family and their spouses, there are three headstones that are not related to the Browns at all.  There are three identical small headststones at the far end of the cemetery that all read 'HACH'.  While there is not much known about these headstones, it is clear that they belonged to the man that the Brown's purchased their land from in 1850--a man named Hach.  The three headstones predate all of the other headstones in the cemetery, however it is unclear when they were placed there because there are no dates listed on any of the headstones. It is believed that the graves belong to three young children.  It is unclear why the Brown family chose to keep the three headstones in the cemetery.  It is also unclear why they chose to build the iron gate with the Hach stones inside.

The Headstones Outside of the Iron Fence

While 2 acres of land is allocated to the Brown's Memorial Cemetery, most of the headstones reside inside a 75'x75' iron fence.  33 headstones reside inside the iron fence, however, there are six headstones placed just outside of the fence.  Some of the headstones that reside outside of the iron fence share surnames with the ones inside.  It is also important to note that there are several vacant plots inside of the fence.  If they are part of the Brown family, why are they not buried inside of the iron fence?  Additionally, there are a few headstones with surnames that are not found inside of the iron fence.  However, they are still buried within the confines of the Brown's Memorial Cemetery.  If the graves do not belong to members of the Brown family or their extended family, why are they still buried in the Brown's Memorial Cemetery?  How do they relate to the Brown family and their descendents?  While conducting my research on the Brown's Memorial Cemetery, I was unable to find answers to these questions.
