Bennett Family

Hudson Bennett was born on June 5, 1807 in the Fairfax area.  Hudson married Lucy Bennett he moved to Dranesville where he lived as a farmer.  Their marriage produced at least five children who all attended school. He was a slave owner before the Civil War.  In 1850 he owned three slaves: one 25 year old black female, one 16 year old black male, and one 5 year old black female.  In 1860 he owned five slaves: one 36 year old black female, one 17 year old black female, one 8 year old black male, one 5 year old black female, and one two year old black female.  There was no mention of what happened to his slaves after the war ended.   Hudson died on July 26, 1892.

Lucy A Bennett was born on June 18, 1812.  She kept house for the family until her death on March 13, 1887.
