This diary was kept by Richard M. Scott Jr. while he was the owner of Bush Hill. His father Richard M. Scott willed him Bush Hill estate. Scott Jr. lived at Bush Hill with his wife Virginia Gunnell and their 4 children until his death in 1857, from lunch problems. He was Buried at Bush Hill and then moved to Ivy Hill Cemetery. He willed his wife Bush Hill, which she maintained until 1864, eventually having to sell to her cousin because of debt from taxes.
